The strings opening the Slim Shade blinds on our Pella sliding doors and one living room window have broken. There seems to be no solution from Pella except to purchase new windows and doors - ours are only 15 years old and this solution is EXTREMELY expensive, basically starting over.

We chose Pella because of their lifetime warranty and formerly good reputation. Come on people, this should be a $5 fix and Pella should provide an individual who is trained to restring these doors and windows since I was told by a Pella rep that it was a design flaw.

Now we're sitting in the dark with the shades drawn, captives in our own house. Classy.

You're expecting a $5.00 fix for a 15yr old door? Many doors don't last 15yrs, period!

The strings on your slim shades? You need to visit a site like amsco. With a quick google search I found all the slim shade parts anyone should need. If you're expecting a Pella truck with a nice professional Pella representative to quickly schedule an appointment and drive to your home for warranty work on your 15yr old door, what year exactly do you think we are living?

You can't expect that kind of service from ANY company today. By the way, when I sold my home in 2016 my slim shades were 30+ years old and still working fine.
